REVERSIBLE TEXTURE – WORKSHOP WITH CECELIA CAMPOCHIARO

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

This workshop and introduction to the book Reversible Knitting is about textured stitch patterns where both sides look the same. The class will touch on a range of topics including one-row patterns, sequence knitting, selvedges, how reversible patterns are created, how to use charts for flat knitting or knitting in the round, and how to use charts to modify patterns.

You will swatch some stitch patterns to get an understanding of different reversible-pattern structures using knits, purls, lace, and slip stitches. The swatches in class will be worked flat, but all these techniques are easy to work in the round.

Reversible patterns can be used for scarves, shawls, blankets or anything where you want both sides to look the same. We’ll talk about how to determine gauge to calculate yarn quantities and dimensions for these common accessories so you can turn any of the swatches into a unique masterpiece of your making.

LEVEL

Advanced beginners and beyond are welcome. You must be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase and decrease. If you can make a 4×4 ribbing swatch without laddering (gaps between the ribs), you will be fine.

MATERIALS

Bring the following materials:
3, 3.5 and 4 mm needles and basic knitting supplies.

Isager provides yarn for swatching.
Students get a 10% discount on yarn in the Isager shop.

PROGRAM

10:00 – Workshop
12:30 – Lunch at the cafe
13:30 – Workshop, coffee/tea is served
15:00 – Workshop ends

Lunch is included in the workshop price.
